Our Brand

Woven Legacies, Island Born

At the heart of our brand is the spirit of the three islands that form the Isles of Aran— Inis Mór, Inis Meáin and Inis Oírr — where family and traditions shape everyday life.

Rooted in the rich heritage and rugged beauty of these islands, our brand draws inspiration from our homeland, renowned for its dramatic cliffs, windswept landscapes and timeless customs. The name "Isles of Aran" traces back to an early 19th-century nautical map, signifying both the islands' deep seafaring legacy and their unity as a trio.

Central to our story is the Currach, a traditional Irish boat symbolising resilience, community and heritage. Derived from the ancient Coracle—a primitive vessel believed to date back to Mesolithic times—the Currach reflects both survival and adaptability. It is thought that the first inhabitants of the Aran Islands arrived on Coracles, reflecting their resourcefulness and enduring spirit. By celebrating this iconic symbol, we honour the legacy of the Isles of Aran, preserving the stories of its close-knit communities.

Equally iconic is the Aran Sweater, a garment born from the hands of the islanders and crafted to withstand the Atlantic’s harsh elements. Originally hand-knit for fishermen, each sweater told a unique story through its intricate patterns, which embodied family heritage, connection and protection. Today, the Aran Sweater remains a timeless piece of Irish craftsmanship, blending tradition and innovation. Each stitch reflects the nature and essence of the islands, creating a product that bridges past and present, land and sea, community and individuality.

Life on the Aran Islands is simple yet rich with meaning. We strive to share this warmth and hospitality, where every encounter feels like a smile from a friend, a handshake with a neighbour, or a cheerful “Cén chaoi a bhfuil tú?” (How are you?), from a local.

Whether you find yourself stepping into one of our island stores or shopping online from distant shores, we take the time to listen, help and ensure you feel right at home—just as islanders do for one another.
